Outer Banks Forum for the Lively Arts
2008-09 Season
Experience an unforgettable
evening while the renowned and award-winning performer, composer and
lyricist Dorothy Papadakos improvises organ accompaniment to the 1929 silent
film version of Phantom of the Opera in the opening performance of the 26th
extraordinary Outer Banks Forum performing arts series, Sat., Sept. 27 at
7:30 p.m., according to John H. Tucker, president of the Outer Banks Forum
for the Lively Arts. All programs will be held at the First Flight High
School in Kill Devil Hills.
"The upcoming season
features a wide array of performers, from musical to dance to comedy," said
Tucker. "So, if you want to see all of these stunning performances, I
encourage you to sign up now!"
Gaining
international attention as organist of the world's largest gothic cathedral,
the only woman ever appointed, Ms. Papadakos is a six-time Grammy
Award-winner and is celebrated for daring and imaginative organ
improvisations and compositions for theatre, film, TV and ballet.
Once again, this year's lineup
will include an extra evening of special entertainment featuring The
Virginia Symphony on Sun., May 3, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Conducted by a
nationally acclaimed conductor, this exceptional program will highlight
classical music.
There will also be a
performance featuring a string quarter on Thursday, April 24, 2008 and
another featuring a brass quintet on Friday, April 25, 2008. Both
performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints' Episcopal Church.
The regular Outer Banks Forum
performing arts series will focus on an array of outstanding musical, dance
and comedy programs including:

Chapter 6 - Premier A Cappella Ensemble,
Laughing with the Legends with Joey and Brian
Gurl, Time for Three,
Alison Balsom, Elbert
Watson and Dance Ensemble, and a Special Program to feature The Virginia Symphony.

The Outer Banks Forum for the Performing Arts
is a non-profit organization that brings an annual series of seven
outstanding diverse concerts to the area and provides opportunities for
youth to participate in the arts. All of the performances are partially
