Gloria Coker’s oil on canvas Man with Horn was selected as the Outer Banks Forum Excellence Award and is featured on the cover of the 2018-19 Playbill. It was announced at the 21st Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show, in which the Dare County Arts Council partnered with the Outer Banks Forum for the Lively Arts, to feature music as this year’s theme.
Almost 100 entries including paintings, fiber creations, photography and other media were a part of the show held at the Dare County Arts Show Galley in Manteo May 6-30.
“The Forum does a great job promoting and supporting the performing arts on the Outer Banks,” said DCAC Executive Director Chris Sawin. “Partnering with the Forum to bring the theme of music to the Mollie Show was a special opportunity for DCAC.
As a musician, I really enjoyed seeing visual art inspired by the performing arts in this year’s show.” This annual show is held in memory of Molly A. Fearing, one of the founders of the Dare County Arts Council.
The Forum excellence award entry will be honored at the Forum’s first performance of the 2018–19 season, John Brown Groove Shop Band, on Saturday, September 22, at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills.
The Playbill cover is available for viewing on the Outer Banks Forum’s web page,
